Capital Liverpool – Capital FM To Take Over Juice FM’s 107.6 Frequency

So the cat is out of the bag! It was announced today that 107.6 Capital Liverpool will be launching on 18th January 2016. This is very exciting news for me and my co-host Graeme Smith as we will be transferring from hosting the breakfast show on Capital North West & North Wales and moving to the Drivetime slot on Capital Liverpool. This will be the second time we have both launched a Capital station as we launched Capital North West & North Wales in May 2014. The current breakfast team (Adam, Gemma and Imogen) will continue to host the breakfast show and Baz Todd will present weekends. Liverpool legend Anton Powers will take over the Drivetime show on Thursdays and Fridays and present from 6pm – 7pm.

Moving to Liverpool will be an amazing opportunity for me and Graeme as we both have connections to the city. With Graeme originally from Crosby in Liverpool and me studying music there at university, Liverpool has always had a big place in our hearts. It’s amazing to see how much the city has changed since it was awarded Capital of Culture in 2008 so I’m looking forward to exploring again. Here’s to 2016 it’s going to be an exciting year!

Standby La La Land: A girls holiday in Los Angeles

Lights, Camera, La La Land!

I’ve just come back from the trip of a lifetime, visiting Los Angeles with one of my best friends. If you’ve seen Pretty Woman then no doubt you’ve always dreamed of shopping down Rodeo Drive. This was top of our agenda, the only mission we had was actually getting to LA. My friend is a British Airways air hostess and gets super cheap flights for her friends, that lucky friend being me, we were put on standby to fly to LA. When we got to Heathrow they told us the flight was full, argh! Then they told us we had jump seats, these being the seats the air hostesses sit in, not ideal for an 11 hour flight. Luckily when we got to the gate we managed to blag two economy seats, who knew economy could sound so good?! So there was only one thing for it, celebrate with red wine!

Girls if you’re going to LA, make sure you take an empty suitcase as the shopping in phenomenal! LA is the ideal glamorous but cool girlie holiday. It’s shopping in the sun, drinking coffee in Abbot Kinney and eating amazing food at the Farmers Market in La Brea, just remember to take comfy shoes (not so glam) as you will walk everywhere. The best way to get around the famous areas is by a hop on hop off bus, its around $20 for the day and you can get off in Beverly Hills, then hop back on to shop in Melrose. Catch a bus to Santa Monica for $2 and spend the day down the beach, then catch another bus to Venice beach to do the same. It’s all Abbot Kinney in this area, full of hipster boutiques and really cool cafes. If you get the chance to go make sure you visit the cafe Lemonade, hands down the greatest salad I’ve ever had.

If you’re a nosey parker like me and love looking around fancy houses then I strongly recommend booking a seat on a TMZ bus tour. It will take you through the Hollywood hills and show you amazing houses from Justin Biber’s glass mansion to J.Lo’s ginormous estate. And finally if you have any energy left, then head to Golden Box just off Hollywood Boulevard and dance to some great house and disco music. We went to see DJ Sprinkles and he didn’t disappoint.

Top Tips for LA

* Use Uber, they are super cheap and you don’t need cash

* Stay central around West Hollywood, you’re close to tourist trips and nightlife

 * Visit between Sep & Nov as it’s a great temperature to walk around all day long
