Goodbye summer glow hello pasty Autumn skin! It might feel a bit depressing when the nights get darker, so to make you feel better i’ve got some Autumn beauty trends which will help you look and feel fabulous.
When Autumn kicks in it means corned beef legs and pasty looking skin. We’ve said goodbye to our so not glorious summer and there’s more chance of marrying Tom Hardy then getting a tan. The only thing we can rely on is fake tan, so it’s got to be a good one. I’ve been using fake tan since the age of 16, starting with the classic Dove gradual tan. Yeah we all remember that one don’t we?! We loved smelling of biscuits at the 6 form parties and getting it all over our boyfriends bed sheets. The tricky thing about gradual tan is the patchy bits inbetween your fingers and around the ankles. When I got my student loan at 18 I stepped it up a gear and invested in St Moriz instant self tanning lotion. This is not for the fainthearted as I went green the first time I used it! After that disaster I moved onto St Tropez which in my opinion the best brand of fake tan on the market.
For years I’ve been using the St Tropez bronzing lotion, the end result is fabulous but the journey getting there is pretty time consuming and smelly. Recently St Tropez has released a shower fake tan which means exactly what it says on the tin. It says to wash and exfoliate the body and then cover yourself in the St Tropez tanning lotion and wait for 3 minutes until it settles into the skin. Once the 3 minutes has passed you wash it off, dry down and you’re brown! They claim it doesn’t have an after smell, but I have to admit it does. It’s not quiet the Dove potent biscuit smell, but it’s still there lurking in the background. I would definity recommend to keep it on for around 5 minutes, I think they say 3 minutes just so you use more and then of course you buy more. The best thing about this fake tan is, if you fancy a few cocktails on a Friday but forgot to tan the night before and can’t face instant tan (Geordie Shore style) then you can jump in the shower and come out brown within 5 minutes. It’s cheaper than most tanning lotions on the high street and best of all it doesn’t turn your bed sheets brown!
Autumn means darker nights and comfort food, so the last thing you want to do is go to the gym. Before you ask, it doesn’t involve crying or some shrink and a chaise longue. Like most girls i have a few areas on my body that i’m not exactly in love with, so i thought i would try this treatment on my problems areas. I’ve always suffered from blemishes so i opted for a facelift for my first treatment. The word ‘facelift’ sounds intense, but this treatment was really relaxing to the point where i nearly fell asleep. Altogether it took 12 minutes and involved cleansing the face then the therapist used the cryotherapy machine to blow freezing air all over my face. It’s done in sections and the therapist uses her hand to warm the skin back up. It’s not painful and after the 12 minutes my skin looked noticebly plumper and tighter. My second treatment focused on the back of my legs, concentrating on the tops of my thighs for 30 minutes. The therapist took me through the same process as before and again this was very relaxing and not painful. Before the treatment the therapist measured the width of my thighs and to my surprise after a 30 minute treatment i lost 6 1/2 inches off my thighs! No treadmill can do that in 30 minutes.
After the treatment the results can last as long as you want them to, so if you exercise and eat healthy the weight should stay off.
